Scout Commended for Community Service

Patrick Tornes at San Mateo County Board of SupervisorsTroop 206 Eagle Scout Patrick Tornes was recognized for his service to the community by the San Mateo County Supervisors during their monthly board meeting. Supervisor Slocum had gone to the Maple Street Shelter to see Patrick’s project and had taken a picture of the garden with the benches which he had up on the monitors. He talked about Patrick, his activities and interests and told everyone about his Eagle Scout project. Patrick also said a few words about his desire to continue serving the community. Supervisor Slocum presented Patrick with a commendation. Patrick is the son of James and Jackie Tornes.

The Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County honors and commends Patrick Tornes for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout demonstrating that you live by the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in your daily life. We commend you for the meaningful Eagle Scout Project at the Maple Street Shelter’s Serenity Garden in Redwood City. Your fundraising efforts enabled the Shelter to install a flagpole with an honorary plaque for the shelter’s veteran residents and the three new benches for its garden. We congratulate you for your accomplishments as an Eagle Scout, your efforts in Troop 206 and your commitment to community service.
