We received this letter from a Scoutmaster explaining the amazing time his unit had at summer camp . . .
Dear Camp Oljato,
Our experience at Camp Oljato was excellent from start to finish!
Beginning with emails and assistance from Lauren Gallo, at Council headquarters, our registrations and payments were made easy. Merit Badge registrations were also made easy, and Russell Stevens was helpful with last minute adjustments and was part of a terrific program at camp.
Upon arrival at the dock, we were greeted with friendly members of the Camp Oljato staff, and quickly were transported to Camp. Once at Camp, Zak our Camp Friend greeted us and assisted us with the week’s activities. Soon we met many other staff members including Wes, Dan, and Ben; all who made this camp fulfill their goals of emphasizing the Scout Oath, Scout Law, patrol method, youth development, and of course good merit badge opportunities and lots of fun for the Scouts and adult Scouters. We especially enjoyed the staff singing, story telling, Scouts Own, Honor Trail, and campfire programs full of Scouting traditions. Our SPL at camp will be a better Scout and individual thanks to this camp and the SPL fellowship program. Our youngest Scout at camp, Trey, will be a braver soul thanks to Mongo at the COPE area, who gave him confidence and security during the flying squirrel activity which we all enjoyed greatly. Rodger and the entire mess hall staff provided the best summer camp food daily! We greatly enjoyed the Scoutmaster BBQ, and all the camp-wide activities.
Thanks to all the staff at Camp Oljato, Troop 208 is a better group of Scouts and Scouters. We had an excellent experience. Thank you.
Yours in Scouting,
John Kakol
