Virtual Weather Merit Badge Workshop with Hiller Aviation Museum
(For Scouts BSA)

Earn the Weather Merit Badge online with Hiller Aviation Museum! Weather Badge applicants must use a weather station constructed during the program to complete seven consecutive days of weather observation. These observations may be recorded on the Weather Observation Log and compared to observations reported on television, radio or internet sources such as the Hiller Aviation Museum’s live weather data. Advanced registration is required.

Virtual Girls in Scouting Meet Women in STEM Career Day
(For Scouts and Venturers, especially our female Scouts BSA members who wish to pursue a career in the STEM fields)

This is a virtual event for our female Scouts to learn about careers that require creative problem solving, and encourage forward thinking, make a difference in society. The purpose is to spark interest in more women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. There is a great demand for women in these fields especially in engineering, computer science, and the life sciences. We have a variety of professional women in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) that have come together to meet with our Scouts to talk about these opportunities. Register now to save your spot for this unique event!

Registration for the Feb 27, 2021 Virtual Merit Badge Midway will open on Wed, Jan 6, 2021 at 9:00am. Registration will be limited to Scouts registered in the Pacific Skyline Council. Merit badges offered: Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communication, Crime Prevention, Emergency Preparedness, Engineering, Fingerprinting, Law, Medicine, Personal Management, and Railroading.

Virtual Learn to Design and Code Apps Workshop
(For Webelos thru Scouts BSA)

This is Microsoft’s 13-year-old and up coding class, and is now open to Webelos with coding experience! (Students under 13 will need to select 13 or older on the web page and have parents in the room for the class.) During this workshop, participants will learn:

– What apps are and how they’re created
– How to brainstorm a good app idea
– How coding relates to apps
– Fundamentals of coding in JavaScript using block-based coding
– Basic app design skills

Virtual Minecraft Hour of Code Workshop
(For Wolf Cubs thru Scouts BSA)

Join us for this 60-min workshop to have fun learning and being inspired by computer science and AI. Using the power of code and AI we will program an adventure together. By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:

– Understand basic AI concepts
– Instruct a computer to perform fundamental coding tasks
– Experience how AI is being used in the real world to promote conservation and sustainability.

Virtual “Space Jam: A New Legacy” Microsoft Coding Workshop
(For Wolfs thru Scouts BSA)

Coding workshop for Wolf Cubs and up. This virtual workshop introduces students to game design and block-based coding as part of a partnership between Warner Bros., Xbox, and Microsoft Store around the film Space Jam: A New Legacy starring LeBron James and Bugs Bunny, releasing summer 2021. During the workshop, hosted online, students will design their own video game inspired by the film, and code a Space Jam-themed game with MakeCode Arcade. Capacity: 49.

Virtual Follow the Iditarod!
(For Scouts of All Ages)

In this virtual workshop with Microsoft, you will explore the legendary dog sled race across Alaska known as the Iditarod. You will learn about the history of dog sledding and the Iditarod as they complete your workbook. In addition, you’ll engage in fun, informational activities within your workbooks that highlight the dog breeds most used in mushing, the equipment mushers use, and iconic checkpoints along the actual Iditarod race route.

Winter Week STEM Experience with Microsoft!
(For Cub Scouts) FULL, waitlist available

Join us in exploring the joy of STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Mathematics) during winter break! Kick off 2021 with a one-week STEM experience where we will be working on the basics of coding as well as working towards earning one of the many Cub Scout STEM Nova Awards! This special event is open to all Wolves, Bears, Webelos and AOLs (who have completed their Cyber Chip) and is another completely free event that Pacific Skyline Council and Microsoft are partnering together to provide for your Scouts.

We want to lend a helping hand to those families and packs that are struggling and finding it hard to run den meetings lately for their sons and daughters. We don’t want your Cubs to miss out on a year of this great program. Not only are we offering new and exciting programs every week for Scouts of all ages, we are also trying new activities to keep your children learning and having fun in exciting ways. We invite your Cubs to come online and join us for Virtual Den Meetings by rank twice a month! Spaces are limited so sign up quickly.

(For new Cub Scouts)

A great activity for those Cub Scouts who just joined us! In our virtual Bobcat Class, Cub Scouts will earn their Bobcat, the first rank in Cub Scouting. Participants will want to have a paper and pencil/pen, and please note, Cub Scouting is a family program so parents are expected to participate with their Scout. The 30-minute class is FREE.
