Spring Shooting Sports Day!

Did you miss the Shooting Sports Day in fall 2021? We’ve added a day in March 2022 packed with shooting sports activities!

It’s the annual Shooting Sports Weekend! Our Shooting Sports Committee is hosting a weekend packed with shooting sports activities.

If your unit participated in the August 2021 Shooting Sports Day, please do not sign up until Feb 28, 2022.

When
  • Saturday March 26, 2022, 7:00am-6:00pm
  • MANDATORY safety briefing starts at 8:30am, if you are not there on time you cannot shoot!
Cost
  • $100/Scout (limited to 84)
  • $40/Adult (can shoot but priority goes to Scouts)

Who
  • Scouts BSA – limited to 84 Scouts
  • Each unit can only sign up 8 Scouts initially, open to all starting 2/28
  • If your unit participated in the August 2021 Shooting Sports Day, please do not sign up until 2/28/22.
  • Participation at each station may depend on strength and is at the discretion of the instructors.
Details
  • Registration opens Mon, Feb 14, 2022 at 8am.
  • Sign-ups are by “contingent” only (as a troop/crew, NO individual sign-ups).
  • Only units within Pacific Skyline Council can sign up before Feb 28, 2022, when registration opens to all.
  • Eye and ear protection will be provided and must be worn at all ranges.
  • Bring your own lunch and water.
  • Adults can shoot, time permitting; Scouts have priority.
  • All participants must bring 2 signed copies of the Shooting Sports Authorization Form
Camping
  • Units are encouraged to camp overnight at BCSR the night before (and Saturday, too, if you want). Please contact Adela Wright at adela.wright@scouting.org to reserve a campsite.
  • All campsite reservations will be made through the council office on a first come, first served basis.
  • Please provide your unit number; contact name, email address and phone number; camping dates, number of youth and number of adults; 3 campsite requests in order of preference or state “no preference.”
  • The camping fee is $8 per person per night; however, some campsites do have a minimum fee (varies by campsite).
  • Units must pay the camping reservation fee online prior to arrival at camp.

This event is for Scouts ages 11-17, age 10 if completed Webelos and joined a Scouts BSA troop. Some events like shotgun may have age or size restrictions which are up to the instructor. See age restrictions here.

Scouts will be grouped into patrols of 16 and rotate through the various stations. Experienced instructors will conduct safety briefings, supervise all activities, and provide expert instruction.

This is an amazing opportunity to experience a wide variety of shooting sports in a safe and fun outdoor environment. This event is limited to 128 Scouts so make sure you sign up early!

Meals: Fri – cracker barrel, Sat – breakfast/lunch/dinner, and Sun – breakfast/lunch

Registration

· Aug 14, 2019 – Registration opens for in-council units (limited to 10 youth/unit, contingent registration only, each unit must have 2 adults minimum who are not on staff. Adults from each unit will be expected to work one or more shifts in the kitchen.)
· Aug 28, 2019 – Registration continues, (unlimited, open to out-of-council units, first-come first-served, non-refundable)
· Sep 6, 2019 – Registration closes
