Virtual Event – Family Fun Fest

It’s outdoor adventure you can have online! If you like funny pets, rockets and astronauts, Pinewood Derby cars, movie make-up artists and backyard camping then you’ll love Family Fun Fest! This very special online-only event is just for families like yours! There will be cool hands-on activities, interviews with amazing people, opportunities to make your community better with a service project. If you’re a Cub Scout you’ll love it! If you want to find out about all the fun and cool things Scouts do–this is your chance! It’s always more fun with friends – so invite your friends to join you online for Family Fun Fest on Facebook Live!

Virtual Event – Cyber Chip
(for 1st-3rd graders)

Today’s youth are spending more time than ever using digital media for education, research, socializing, and fun. To help families and volunteers keep youth safe while online, the Boy Scouts of America introduces the Cyber Chip. In developing this exciting new tool, the BSA teamed up with content expert NetSmartz®, part of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children® and training expert for many law enforcement agencies. Topics include: cyberbullying, cell phone use, texting, blogging, gaming, and identity theft. We will be covering everything your Tiger, Wolf or Bear will need to complete their Cyber Chip! Not only will they earn their Cyber Chip but their patch will be emailed to you after completing the class.

Virtual Event – Summer of Gaming Patch

To earn this patch participants must participate in at least 3 different council video game events sometime during May-August 2020. Video game events include: Minecraft-o-rees, Kahoot! Weekly challenges, Rocket League Tournament of Champions, Minecraft Building Competitions, Microsoft Virtual Scouting week, and much more. Learn more.

Day Camp in a Box!
This summer, for the first time, day camps around the nation will not open. However, we are committed to bringing camp fun to the home of every Cub Scout right to your doorstep! Presenting the Cub World Beyond box. For only $150, you will receive materials for over 20 fun-filled camp activities delivered to your home. That is $37.50 a week! Your box will arrive the week of July 13, 2020.

Virtual Event – Golf with Your Scouts (on Xbox)

Come experience friendly competition against other Scouts around the Council in the first ever Golf with Scouts virtual event! We will set up a game of “Golf with Your Friends” between Scouts that sign up to play in matches of 10 players or less.

This event is open to all Cub Scouts and Scout BSA members, including the newest Scouts who have just joined!

Virtual Event – Weekly Minecraft-Building Contests

Every Tuesday in June we will have two Minecraft-building contests: one for Cubs, one for Scouts BSA. These will be in the JAVA edition of Minecraft ONLY. You will be given a theme to create something in the Minecraft world. We will have a prize for each contest, TBD.

Virtual Event – Minecraft Hour of Code
(For Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA)

Join us for this 60-min workshop to have fun learning and being inspired by computer science and AI. Using the power of code and AI, we will program an adventure together.

By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:

  1. Understand basic AI concepts
  2. Instruct a computer to perform fundamental coding tasks
  3. Experience how AI is being used in the real world to promote conservation and sustainability

Virtual Event – Code Your Own Video Game with MakeCode Arcade
(For Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA)

In this workshop, participants (whom we will call game developers) will use block coding to create games with MakeCode Arcade. Participants will learn about the game design concept of sprites and the computer science concepts of coordinates and variables. They will complete a coding tutorial to build a game introducing them to the fundamentals of MakeCode Arcade.

Virtual Event – Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History’s Hall of Fossils Tour (ages 8+)

Travel millions of years to the past without leaving your home. In this workshop, students ages 8+ are transported to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History right from their web browser using 360-degree interactive imagery.

Participants will:

  1. Explore the Smithsonian’s famous “Hall of Fossils” in 360-degrees virtually
  2. Learn about natural history in the Jurassic age
  3. Complete a fun virtual discovery hunt throughout the museum

Cub-On is a weekend family camping event for all Cub Scouts and their families. Program areas are open throughout the weekend. Meals are provided; trained staff on duty for all areas of camp; “Bobcat Trail” program for brand new Scouts; and “Spirit of the Arrow” for Webelos. See left menu.

VIRTUAL Camporee for All!
Sat, May 16, 2020

Everyone is welcome to participate in the Stay-at-Home Camporee to show off your Scout skills! We will be featuring challenges to our Scouts such as first aid at home, Scout Trivia game, best Scout jokes, patch design contest, show us your mask design, and more! We will be interacting with each other through social media posts to Instagram and Facebook. This also helps spread the message that Scouting is still continuing during the Stay at home orders.

  • To participate, you will need to join the Camporee facebook page to participate (a parent can join the group and post on behalf of the Scout).
Virtual Event – Memorial Day Remembrance (for everyone)

We will have guest speaker videos on the Pacific Skyline Council Facebook page as well as posting those videos to our website over the course of Memorial Day weekend. We are encouraging all Scouts to post a photo of themselves saluting in Uniform on to social media and tag it #UniformsThankingUniforms to show our Virtual Remembrance for those who gave up so much.
